This HK416A5 from Umarex is a fully licensed gas blow back replica of the newest version of the HK416.
Being manufactured for Umarex by VFC this 416 just oozes quality the build quality is superb, the A5's controls ambi mag release, bolt catch and fire selector all feel sturdy and purposeful when being operated.
The A5 has some cosmetic and operational differences and improvements our the previous model.
The first thing you may notice is that the A5 has an angled magwell compared to the original 416 this is to improve mag compatibility on the real steel version. The A5 is also fitted with HK slimline butt stock this makes the A5 very compact when bringing up into the firing position. Gone are the iconic and traditional HK iron sights these have been replaced with an integrated flip up front sight that when not in use disappears into the top rail section. The rear sight is a flip up which has a quick detach feature so no more need for tools to remove the iron sights.
The feature that has impressed us most about the A5 is the new Hop adjustment, in previous models you had to split the weapon remove the bolt and use a very long allen key to adjust the Hop as required, this was not very practical to do mid game and if you lost the Allen key then it became a real headache. VFC have thought about this problem and have incorporated a very clever solution, the gas regulator on the A5 is the adjustment for the Hop, this allows the user to adjust the Hop in game and not have to worry about carrying or loosing the all important allen key.
We tested the 416 A5 using Nuprol 3.0 Red Gas and Nuprol RZR 0.2 bb's through our chrono and over a ten shot average the was a very consistent 335fps.
