On the G19x which is the name of the tan version the Glock 45 is the black version of the new 19x
We could certainly write a whole essay. This strange model has its origin in the competition for a new service pistol of the US Armed Forces. Meanwhile it is clear that SIG Sauer could succeed with the P320 which has already been issued as M17/M18 to some units.
But the G19x was offered afterwards on the free market and served at the same time as a starting point for some changes of the G-series Gen. 5 pistols. However, one element of the competition model was not adopted for the civilian version or the Airsoft replica.
The US Army had required a new service pistol with a manual safety mechanism. A operating element the current G-series pistols do not have. For the competition there existed this. It wasnât needed for the civilian market so it was removed again. And so the index finger is still the only safety device for these pistols. Because the trigger safety still exists.
But what makes the G19x so special? If you take a closer look you will notice that the grip is a bit longer than on a normal G19. This is a front shortened grip of the G17 on which the short slide of a G19 was installed. So a mix of full size and compact version. Everyone has to know for himself whether this is the most practical mix.
But the G19x also has a small feature that G-series pistols rarely have without accessories. A mounting for a lanyard. But luckily it is removable and not fixed.
General changes to the G-Series Gen. 5 models
E & C Airsoft has of course adopted the most important changes of the 5th generation.
Like the original model, G-series pistols must have distinct edges. Well, its been that way for 30 years, or not? But with the Gen. 5 something has changed, at least a little. So the front edges of the slide are now rounded. This should help getting the pistol faster in the holster. Otherwise very little was changed here and the often demanded front slide serrations did not get be made on the original, thus the clone of course also not.
With the Gen. 3 the ergonomically formed finger grooves were introduced. A feature that can also be found at many other manufacturers in the meantime. The G-series now goes back to a smooth grip. Whether this is better or worse is probably a matter of personal preferences
Under stress even simple things like reloading the pistol can become difficult. This should be compensated by a slightly enlarged and bevelled magazine well. Since this is really a matter of a few millimeters, this effect will probably be rather small with the G-Series Gen. 5. But itâs still nice that WE has thought about this feature as well.
