This is the newest model of the Mordred Sandstone the 2023 version has a few enhancements over previous years.

2023 Model

The 2023 model Excalibur rifles now feature an inbuilt MOSFET into the trigger board and a rotary hop unit. MOSFETs help protect the trigger contacts from being burnt out when using 7.4v or 11.1v LiPo batteries, increases the efficiency of the battery allowing for more shots per charge and increase the overall performance of the gearbox with a slight increase rate of fire and snappier trigger response.
The rotary hop unit improves the stability of the hop and negates any chance of it coming loose as a result of vibrations. As a result, the hop will be more consistent and give you ore adjustment allowing for finer tuning for heavier BBs.

Arthurian Airsoft has released the 'Excalibur' range of AEGs with something for every player. The Excalibur AEGs are all full metal construction with numerous styles of external parts to compliment and individualise every variant.

The Excalibur Mordred is available in two colours, Obsidian and Sandstone. Named after the sneaky and traitorous nephew to Arthur, this model is based off the ever popular 416 Delta.

It has a 10" rail system capable of fixing separate rails to the 7 sides of the octagonal rail system. Included in the box is 2x 3 slot rails and 1x 7 slot rail to affix in 3 different positions along each of the 7 sides meaning you can personalise the set up depending on what attachments the user requires. Also included in the box is a 130mm quick detach suppressor which threads on to the existing flash hider and clicks solidly into place. The top of the rail has a standard 20mm rail keeping the look and design flush with the upper receiver.

The upper receiver has the standard 20mm Picatinny rail on the top with the laser engraved 'T' number markings which continue onto the rail system. The forward assist, although dummy, still moves back and forth when pressed. A nice design feature compared to some fixed, moulded forward assists. The dust cover locks into place and flips down when the charging handle is pulled, this also reveals the hop up unit. When the mock bolt plate comes back, it locks into place so the user can easily adjust the hop up without having to keep pulling the charging handle back. This can be released again by pressing the bolt stop on the lower receiver. The rail system cannot be easily changed due to the solid design and the stability of the fixtures.

The lower receiver noticeably bears the 'Excalibur' logo laser engraved on the left side of the mag well. The bolt release, as mentioned before, releases the locking bolt plate. The fire selector settings are engraved with the standard 'Safe', 'Semi' & 'Auto' setting with a selector switch which clicks positively into place on each firing position.

The Gearbox:
The gearbox is very well constructed with components you'd expect from most mid-range AEGs, however, the Excalibur series comes preinstalled with 8mm bearings, a 15 metal tooth piston, enhanced tappet plate and of course the E&C spring change system.

This model comes with a battery compatible crane stock, meaning finding batteries to fit the Excalibur Mordred are easy to find. If you are unsure of what batteries to use, take a look at the technical specifications for the recommended batteries. The crane stock has two tabs at the back to press in and the back plate comes off, then remove the rear spacer and you can install your battery. The stock is adjustable between 6 positions which extend up to an extra 80mm giving you plenty of choice for a comfortable shooting configuration.
